At the beginning of the month I decided I wanted to turn the garage into my workshop which and I knew I had my work cut out for me due to the state my brother left it in cluttered with alot of junk a bit of my own and others but mainly my older brother who when we were youngerand still is a pack rat in my opinion. But anyways I decided that investing in some racks for ceiling storage would be a good idea and will definitely help to elevate some of the clutter. Now racks are on their way so I read thru installation manual thoroughly skimmed thru it before purchase and requires cling joist to be spaced at 24" which is to be the standard from my understanding, but the joist in my garage are spaced out at 48" inchs apart running from side to side not front to back of garage. the
home is older but not extremely and just concerned if it is something I should look into more and keep an eye on. Would it be possible to just add the a joist in between the spacing which should leave them at 24" Spacing? Also I will be receiving brackets to accommodate the 48 inch spacing.
