Planning on insulating and covering my 2X6 on 24" center roof rafters. It also has collar ties that are about 8' long so the rafters above the collar ties won't get any insulation. There are gable vents at each end. I've been debating, with myself, using tyvek sheeting to cover the insulation and calling it done. This will eliminate sheet rocking, taping and painting. See any issues with this plan, or another alternative to sheet rock?
Thanx

Tyvek is not flame resistant. I have no idea what you are doing in your garage, but in mine, I wanted the flame resistance (little as it might be) of dry wall.

Tyvek is not like plastic, it is supposed to be permeable. You need to keep air from moving through the insulation, so the metal with caulk sealing the seams and at the walls would be better.

"Liner panel" ceiling. It's basically a thinner gauge of barn siding. Comes pre-painted in just about whatever length you'd want, and it's strong enough to span up to about 8 ft.

Consider blown in insulation above whatever you install. A lot easier to install then batts. Check with your large lumber yards. They special order it and comes in a few days.

That does look nice. I've been looking around for a local outlet without much luck. Where did you get yours?

That's not a picture of mine, just a random image I pulled from google to show the metal that everybody kept talking about. Where are you located? Most lumber yards will be able to order it. Some will stock it in short lengths too if you don't want long sheets.

Resurrecting this post. Heard back from the local lumber yard. $3 per linear ft! That's not gonna happen. Any other ideas?

You got one price from a local yard, for 'who knows what product', something maybe they need to special order, and you are changed directions? Or decided 'no metal for me'?
