Thanks Chris. The outside will have the look of a Victorian 'gig' house(sort of garage for the Sunday carriage) while the interior will hopefully have a '40's feel to it.Love the space you've got there Mark .looking forward to seeing what you do with it , any chance of you posting a link to you rod build on the hamb ?
Cheers Chris Cant
Yep! Mark's right. We lived in Pimlico for 26 yrs. Irene was born and bred there. Worked all over London (Driver) and used to be in a Rnr/ R/billy band in 70's. Played most of the RnR pubs.
Charlie!!
I know next to nothing about lathes.I've been told that Myford were one of the best small lathes available though.I got a lot of extras with it,four paw chuck, vertical milling attachment and other stuff that I've yet to figure out.Just hope I can learn enough to do small items for the car. That lathe's a beaut. My Dad has a Myford (Super 7 I think?) which I've told my 3 brothers and Dad will be mine one day. I even know where I'll put it in my yet to be built garage!
Turns out it's not all that hard to learn.Just take your time and all should go well.I use my old 1952 CVA lathe most every day.Man,the snow had just about cleared then,in the last couple of days,we got hit with another 6 inches.i'm sick of the ****** weather up here!Mark!Stop stealing my snow eh!We barely have 6 inches left on the ground wtf? Most years I've already had to shovel the roof off a couple of times by now.
Some nice heavy duty equipment you have there.
I remember the first time I had to use a lathe,I was intimedated by all the levers and knobs.Turns out it's not all that hard to learn.Just take your time and all should go well.I use my old 1952 CVA lathe most every day.
Good luck,I don't hnow your model, but they mostly all use the same principals. If you need some pointers, feel free to pm me and I'll try and help you out even if your hoarding all my snow.![]()
Haha, you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers!Hi Mark.....love that tool box.....if you get tired of it....just send it my way.....
BTW.....my x is from Scotland....Fraserburgh to be exact....I've been through your neck of the woods several times.....love Edinburgh castle.....especially the view down to Princess St...
My current wife is English...so I don't get up your way any more....though I might have a trip to Prestwick in the near future....if I do...we'll have to meet up for a pint...

Did you get to Stirling Castle when you were here?Great place to visit.
If you get up this way,a beer would be great. If you want to one of our local pubs, might be an idea to bring your 'vest'.A set of brass knuckles would probably be a good idea too!
Cheers,
Mark.

Missed this! John, fly into Heathrow and you can pick me up from Watford on the way up north. I'm half Scot myself so may be able to interpret a little!Never stoped at the castle......Back in the 70's when I was making the London drive, you were just trying to make it through town as best you could....it used to take 12 hours to drive from Fraserburg down to Northhampton.....5 hours alone just to get to Edinburgh....
As for the pub.....no vest needed....I'll bring Baz and his 'buddies'....if I buy, they'll follow me anywhere.....

Haha! You should see it up close,a real mess! You have a really nice place there Mark. Nice to see your making progress non the less.
It almost looks like you have a zillion dark wool sheep in the back field.

Mark H - What a challenge you are in the midst of; but will be well worth the effort when it is done! You and your wife will own a piece of 'old world charm' and be the envy of those living in the modern development.
It looks like the latest picture was taken from a hill? Could you post some pictures of the country side with your property in the distance? It looks like you are situated on a hillside with some great views, yes? Hopefully, the developers won't infringe on the views from your 'little patch of paradise'.![]()

It's not the smoothest slab I've ever seen though it's the first I've ever done.It is level though.Lovely, lovely place, Mark.

I thought this thread had been consigned to the archives. Good to see you posting again. Even if you are stingy with the pictures.
