Hi to all.
Was searching online about building garages and come to this forum. Seems like very active community. Do not know whether it is a right place to ask but saw many people posting their garages in the process of construction… Ok, planning on building a garage, have a blue print ready and called construction company to estimate the cost. Got a price $42,300 total for labor and materials. Decided to get another estimate – got a price $27,900 total for labor and materials. ??? Ok – do not have much of experience dealing with contractors and it might be not with a garage, but with any construction estimates, but my case is a garage, so any thoughts, experience. Thank you in advance.

Cost to build a garage will vary and you can expect to pay around $50 per s/f. But still – how you are planning to finish it is the most important factor. Finishing exterior walls with a vinyl siding is a one thing, but brick walls will be much more expensive and so on… If you have a drawings ready and the estimates were not even close you might need to get another quote, because it shouldn’t be that much difference.
