Thanks for you kind words! Leon is 1.8 20vt4, engine is swapped from Audi TT. 4WD is really nice thing to have. By the way I bought my Leon back in October 2001, I'm first owner.

TO ALL

Happy New Year!
Wishing you a year full of happy days.

I'm back! To fully recover from surgery took more time than I thought. But now I have some projects to finish :)
First on the list to finish storage for garden tools, tires, etc. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Good timing. I'm looking to store my garden tools rather than leaning them against the wall.

During first winter after refurbishing our garage I noticed that corners looked terrible.

I repaired corners with some acoustic sealant (leftover from my Home Theater build). Waiting for some new paint.

Some progress with the attic above the Garage. I installed old lamps from our garage here, these lamps will serve nicely here.

I also decided to clear up the attic. One of my my future projects is to complete flooring at the attic to get some more storage space.

Garage is getting new floor. Some fresh concrete with Mastertop treatment. Here is discussion about Mastertop floors. Should be really great stuff against studded tires, salt, workshop use, etc.

I packed up and moved all stuff from the Garage. Now all tools and benches are in small storage room, tight fit but everything is still usable.

Mikkeli: I love all the storage places you have and nice that your garage stuff can still be used in the storage while you are putting down the new floor.

I'm not sure you mentioned anything about that LOG CABIN I see in the background of a few pics. care to share? more storage, living area or do tell?

glad to hear your surgery went well and not sure what it was for, but happy to have you healthy and posting pictures of cool stuff again.

are you going to race again and guessing you are cause you have that good FINLAND blood running through your body.

cheers

Indeed, i was really surprised when i realized that all of the garage stuff is still accessible.
Log cabin is for our firewood. We use a LOT of firewood in the boiler room, so proper log cabin was built.

I like the work that you've done. Any plans with the floor?

Thank you. I'm still waiting for concrete scarifier to arrive at my local rental shop.

Mikkeli: good for you taking on this project!! I hope you have a great dust mask and eye and ear protection cause you only get one set of those. i'm still trying to remember to wear mine cause my dad and gramps never did and they both lost their hearing in their 50's and 60's.

are you hiring out the cement floor pour or doing it yourself?

good luck!!

drivesitfar: I'm really happy that we are finally getting floor fixed. A lot of dusty work but final result should be rewarding. And yes I was/I am wearing dust mask and eye and ear protection, used to wear protection at (paying) work as well.

I'm not doing cement floor pour by myself, I'm using professional team with huge amount of experience. Same team poured floor to my friends brand new Garage at last summer, with amazing result. Otherwise I'll try to do everything by myself and save some €.

Fresh cement pour with Mastertop "coating" is also time consuming process even for the professionals so there is risk of cement for drying up too fast. I'm not willing to take that risk by myself.

Mikkeli: yep even as much concrete work as i've done I still am going to hire out the work to put in my driveway cause big flat surfaces need skills and a few good tools i don't possess.

GOOD LUCK!!

Mikkeli: looking good and crossing my fingers that it ends up even better than you hoped it would.

 I'm sure that the end result is nice looking and solid.

Next on my to do list is Garage doors, i have to re-install doors little higher because of new floor. At the moment i cannot fully close Garage doors.

I’m super jealous of you right now! That floor looks like it took a pretty good beating and a lot of hard work to get it back. Great job. I’ll let you know when you can come and give me a hand with mine!

New floor look's good! How long it take's to dry?

Let's wait for the final result. I'm keeping floor covered up for five days, so three days to go...

Repairing old is always time consuming and extra work is needed. Hopefully i don't have to do any this again!

Mikkeli: I'd think twice about calling your insurance for that little damage cause a good clean record goes a long way in lower rates and better service when something really bad happens.

I'm really happy that tree missed your home or anything more expensive to fix or replace.

how's the garage floor looking and are the guys coming back this week to finish up?

good luck!!

Good point about insurance rates, also those pillar lamps in our yard are going to be replaced anyway in near future.

Garage floor is already finished, hardener (Masterdur K105) was applied to fresh cement pour. You can see a pile of hardener sacks in WIP photos. Only two more days and I can remove plastic covering floor. Then it is time to get some photos and bring Garage stuff back to where it belongs.

Good looking new congretefloor! Wish to have even straight floor some day. now its in 2 levels... it wasn't so just in the '60s..

TO cgv

Thank you! New floor was really high on my to-do list, proper Garage needs solid and smooth floor. :) Now I can finally get back to actual projects, at least some automotive work is coming.

Here you can see middle part of ramp is already pretty dry.

Garage floor is still drying slowly (darker areas). How long I should wait before I can bring my workbench, toolbox, etc. :headscrat

Here is two pictures showing that I had to lift Garage doors to be able to close doors again. I need new sealing material to close gaps.

Quickjack arrived  Still waiting for new floor to dry. Weather has been really humid since the concrete pour and drying seems to take really long. But I'm not complaining, slow drying -> no cracks...

Golf and Leon waiting patiently. Yard needs layer of medium stone gravel, there is about 80mm (about 3 inches) step to new ramp.

Today is first day of my midnight summer festival holiday :)

In memory of 1/2 Cup I decided to spend some QST. Installed snow barriers on the roof of Garage. Nice weather and pretty straightforward job to do.

Installation in progress. I wrapped masonry string between two roof barrier stands, using this string as a guide I was able to install rest of the stands in almost perfect line.

Hi Erkka!

I bought my Quickjack BL-5000 SLX from Finnish company named Jalator.

Quickjack BL-5000 SLX

I got 10% off their listed price by just asking for offer by email. So i paid 1259,10 € for the Quickjack. They delivered packages by themselves directly to our Garage (with additional cost).

Biltema is another reseller here in Finland, but their price is higher.

When we see your Garage thread, Erkka?

Mik: your garage is looking great and i'm sure you can't hardly wait to start filling it up.

looks like you are getting a little time to smell the roses too.

I'm thinking of 1/2 Cup daily and still sort of in shock, but I know if there is a heaven he's there looking down on us and he's still sending us a few positive thoughts.

You got it right! I have couple of small things to do before I can start filling up Garage. Some paintwork and crown molding (I have some leftovers for this project).

We have been preparing for coming winter already, our woodshed needs to be filled. Couple more days and we have plenty of firewood ready.

About 1/2 Cup: He was one of the first forum members to say "Welcome" to me and his kind words will be always remembered.

Hi Erkka!

When we see your Garage thread, Erkka?

Thanks for the tip on the Quickjack!

My garage thread will be coming along sometime in the future. :) We've been doing a massive renovation of our 1954 vintage house for the past year or so, which would've been a cool thing to document here.

One part of the renovation will be redoing the garage and the adjacent storage space (which used to be the house's original garage until the early '70s). That part of the renovation I will most definitely document here - so that my motivation is kept high to finish it. :)

Mikkeli, good work with the floor! New concrete is really nice, the toolbox will roll really nicely on it.

Oh, and I also like the quickjack! I hope it will prove to be very practical.

I have been a couple of months away due to extreme busyness as usual, it's the first time I read about 1/2 cup. Really sad.

Everything going to their old places or are you doing some rearrangements now that you are back to square one and have everything outside of the garage?
