Garage Design Plans Advice

Am new to the forum. I am interested in building a new garage off of my pond. would be interested in advice on plans and features one may not consider. I presently have a 3 car stacked set up but need more space for cars/work/tractor and possibly 'mother-in-law' guest attic. Being in Minnesota , it would be good to be able to turn off the water/heat , if necessary...etc. Issues would be water and sewer. I have plenty of power access. Size could be up to 2000 sq ft on the first floor. Am thinking about 'rocking' chair deck overlooking the pond... It would be in nice location deep in my woods away from the house . could be somewhat of a retreat. Have not fiqured out the budget but this is an early retirement project and I would be willing to go upper end on materials and extras. Do many of your use an designer for this type of project?

Welcome to the site. Guess being able to turn off the water and heat would tend to shorten the mother-in-law's visits. Great idea.
