Garage dimensions..

My daughter wants me to build a 1-1/2 car garage for her. I have the carpentry skills but, what I'm not sure about is dimensions. Is there such a thing as standard dimensions for a 1-1/2 car garage? What sizes do the garage doors come in? Any other input would be helpful.

Go to Home depot or similar place...They sell plans with all the dimensions that you will need......1 1/2 car is usually 16x24

Most common door sze is 7x9.

Poncho is right. HD or Lowes would have some plans. 16x24 is considered 1 1/2 car garage. If it's a stand alone garage go with roof trusses. Can't beat them for the money when you compare it against the time and cost of cutting and installing rafters if your a rookie when it comes to rafters.

These days you could not fit a full size suv/truck in 16ft garage since most garages are made for a small car. I can go home in Iowa and pull my full size Dodge 2500 in my moms garage. Now that is a garage.
