So I was over to my uncles last weekend and he is putzing around in the garage working on his truck. So while shooting the bull with him I spy a good size unique looking metal case sitting on the floor against the wall. So I point it out to him and ask him what the heck is that ?, I have never seen that before. He says it is a case of hydraulic body repair tools. Well knowing he has never gotten into heavy body repair and straightening I ask him was that Grandpa's ? Since I have my grandfather's house now he says yup that came out of your garage.

When my grandfather passed away many years ago my uncle took quite a bunch of his tools and I kept a whole bunch also. No problem since we each know where the stuff is (well most of it ) if either one of us needs it. I was surprised I had never seen this as a kid in the garage, it must have not gotten much use and gotten squirreled away amongst the collection of stuff all over.

Anyway I brought it home so I could could do some research on the tools and see if all the parts are there and if not could I track down the missing parts. I have enclosed some pictures of the tools which is a Porter Ferguson "Hydro-Midget" porta power set.

Would anyone know anything about this porta power set ? I would be looking for a catalog page perhaps that shows a parts list. I will probably send off an e-mail to Porter Ferguson also and see if they can help me out since it looks like they still make a similar set. Any help/information would be greatly appreciated

That is a really good tool you've stumbled across. These units have been the top of the line porto-power tools for years. Just check the seals and keep the all the connection areas really clean. Any contamination is a huge issue. Parts are available for the unit. Just not a lot of dealers to choose from. Porter Furguson keeps a tight rein on who they allow to sell & service their tools.

Do you have any plans for using this set or just keeping it foe a keepsake ? If you are looking to move it, let me know.

Hammer1963,

Thanks for the information. I have a call into Lowell/Porter Ferguson and they are looking to see what information they have plus the closest distributor to me.

Since it was my grandfather's I plan on keeping the set for now. If I eventually decide to sell it I will keep you in mind.

Thanks again.
