Need some advice on what to buy in regards to a 9x7 garage door. I have a Home Depot and a Lowes nearby and plan on putting this up myself. Price is a concern but not as much as regretting buying something that is a piece of junk in six months. This is my first time installing a garage door but I can handle most things mechanical. Thanks in advance

Chuck

Just be careful with the springs!! They have killed people before!! I would go with a metal solid core insulated. Theres some good videos on u tube for loading the springs

Look for an insulated alumium door they can be found for not much more than a steel door and they are a lot lighter

You will not find an aluminum door anywhere close to the price of a metal door. Pretty much the only aluminum doors you will find are the gas station style commercial doors or the newer expensive designer all glass aluminum frame doors.

To answer the original question get the door that has steel on both sides it is absolutely worth the extra money in my opinion on a 9 x 7 it really shouldn't be much more.
