Garage Door Balance

I am trying to balance my garage door after replacing one of the two regular torsion springs (that broke) on my heavy two car garage door. My main issue is that when I installed the new spring which matched the old one, it seems like I have each side wound properly but the door seems a bit heavy to open manually, stays open when half opened BUT slams open when it's close to being open. It seems like the springs have been "over-wound" to get open and half-way correct but it should not be crashing open between 3/4 and fully open. Would anyone have some advise as to how to adjust or should I have a garage door company come out?
(I installed the spring and am familiar on how to do it and the safety concerns)

Thank you, Jim

I would replace both springs at the same time. You have one new spring and one old stretched out spring.

Forum - Thank you all! I just ordered two new springs so they are matched from DDM Garage Doors online. They were very helpful and all I had to do is give them the serial number from my Clopay door and they knew what to send.

I will report back after installation. - Jim
