Garage door bottom seal

Now that the floors are done, I want to replace the seals on the bottom of my shop doors. One door is 16’ wide and the other is 8’ wide. I did some searching and it appears that this Bowsen style seal is pretty popular:


The installation looked pretty straightforward on the 8’ door, but the 16’ door has these brackets that wrap around the bottom. I’m assuming that these would have to be removed to install the seal, but the brackets are where the cables attach from the torsion spring.





Are these cables always under tension? Any suggestions on replacing the seal?

The cables *should* not be under tension when the door is fully open. You can open the door & check them for a small bit of slack. What I do is open the door. Disconnect the opener from power. Put a clamp on both rails just in front of the second or third roller to prevent the door from coming down. At that point I can take the bracket & roller off the door without it falling. I've done that when changing to nylon rollers & when replacing the bottom door seal.
