Hey guys, first timer here. I have installed new spring a couple of times in the past just by following some youtube videos... I don't know how the heck i did it without visegrips, but it was done successfully. Now I am facing a weird challenges that I just can't figure out what i am doing wrong.

i am replacing cables on both sides. I got the cables hooked up, tighten them by rotating the drum on both sides. I placed a visegrip on the rod against the wall to keep the tension. Last step is to rotate the spring. when i rotate about 10 quarters, cable come loose with visegrip looking like the photo below(no longer against the wall)... I repeated this like 5 times already. and I figured, it's time to ask the experts here, what I am missing. ( I am assuming, this spring requires about 30 quarter turns).

Hey guys, thanks for the tip. I figured out what it was... it was unevenness of the rod, so spring gets stuck there which forces the rod to rotate with the spring when it was being winded. i smoothed out the rod by grinding it a bit, and that did the trick as spring was able to move freely without getting stuck. Man. what a pain that was and tricky to find out... Thanks for the awareness. I watched the multiple youtube to make sure i do this operation safely. but then again, nothing is ever safe in the world i guess..
