Probably not a big deal but need to ask. Have you had direct comparison with these two mfg.'ers?
I need to buy a 7' x 16' door. The price is pretty close so it comes to dependability, which is better?
Cloplay or CHI?

Had a new Clopay 16x7 insulated door installed in January. Really happy with the quality. I think dependability will more so be related to the hardware and the quality of the work of the installer. I converted to a hi lift set up that included larger drums and commercial springs etc.

I looked at all of them and ended up buying Amarr 2742 doors. Very pleased with the quality and service. I felt these were a significant upgrade from the others and pricing was better too.

Second upgrading to heavy duty hardware and tracks -- learned the hard way with a big door.

Green hinge coupled with high quality nylon ball bearing rollers (vs steel) is a worthwhile upgrade as well.

Can't answer your question on doors -- have only used the thicker fully insulated Clopay. The kind filled with foam. Oldest is 20 years w/ no door issues.

I have two, single bay Clopay insulated doors rated for HVHZ (high-velocity hurricane zone) use, no windows. I think they are the 4300 series. They're on high-lift tracks 118" and no issues. They are on Liftmaster jackshaft openers. I would buy the same thing again. The installer was very good and made some good suggestions about the planning of the install.

I've had both a 8x7 and a 16x7 Clopay, bottom of their line, low cost plain white steel doors - no issues with either. Would buy again, as they say. Bought the 16x7 through HD on a 15% special order sale (all their overhead doors are special order LOL), it was delivered right to my house no extra $ - about $480 total. 7 years in constant use so far, works perfect.

I have two Clopay, via Menards, doors
Foam filled metal
No problems

When you think about it, they are not all that complex.
It would be hard to make a bad one.
