Garage Door Choices

All,
So I'm finally getting around to having a garage built. 24x22 is as big as I can put on my lot...bummer. But at least it's better than nothing. I have a dually with a fiberglass topper and taking it off from time to time is a pain in the behind. I'd love to have the ability to back my truck into the new garage and hoist it up to the ceiling but I can only envision this (with a 16x9 garage door) if I get a rollup commercial type door instead of the standard homeowner panel variety that rolls up on tracks. My contractor is very against the rollup door and keeps telling me they are very finicky and will bind in the tracks shortly after installed if bumped much at all.

Does anybody have any opinions on this type of garage door?

Thanks,
Dave

Sounds to me like your contractor just doesn't want to deal with them for whatever reason. they have been using Rolling Steel doors on commercial applications and Mini-Warehouses for ever!

It's your garage, Don't make compromises because your contractor doesn't know WTF he's talking about.

If that's what you need in your application, tell him to do it or find a contractor that will! Good luck..No metal garage door is going to stand up well being bumped into

I had my door (sectional roll up) custom built. 12 X 11.5 foot. Most door installers can order and install these. I wanted to clear a 4 post lift with a truck on top. I live in earthquake country and the sectional is all we can use as an overhead door. Fred26t
