Garage door dilemma (new construction)

Good evening guys. I am currently having a new garage built. It is 20x24 with 12 foot walls. The garage will have a large door in the front 16x9 and a standard one car garage door in the rear. Not sure on the exact size. In the future I plan on adding a lift in the garage. I talked with the contractor today about installing the door tracks as close to the ceiling as possible. In particular the rear door tracks. He originally quoted me at 1300 for both doors installed. After inquiring about the tracks he spoke with a garage door company who quoted 2800 for the doors and installation with the tracks as close to the ceiling as possible. Does this sound right? As stated earlier the lift is in the future I would say atleast 2 years away. Is there a cheaper route of just going with the 1300 doors and then changing the tracks later? Thanks

You need to figure out what size you have in back. That standard door might range in size from 8x7, 8x8, 9x7 or 9x8, depending on what you get will vary your price. It's the same as your front door, I believe a 16x9 is going to be an odd size and might require a custom build, also adding to the price.

Is that lift going to be centered in the garage or off to one side ? 20' is not real wide for a two car garage, especially when you start adding posts for a lift.

Ask about 32" radius track. It's cheaper than high lift, partially because you can still use a traditional operator, as opposed to a more expensive jackshaft operator, and it'll put the door up +- 2ft higher than normal.
