Garage Door Finish

Finally got around to stripping the garage door, It was a lot more work then I anticipated, I still have some more stripping / sanding to do.

What stain do you guys recommend, I would like something that will hold up to the elements (we get a fair amount of snow up here) , I can't see myself doing this every few years, I'm not sure what type of wood the door is made out of.

I've has fairly good results with staining it then covering with a spar urethane.

nice job on the stripping, but I don't think you'll be happy with anything other than solid stain. a semi transparent stain probably won't look all that good due to the variance in wood tones now.
