Not sure if I am posting this to the appropriate place.
I need to install a replacement tilt up door on my garage. The opening is 16x7, but the replacement door that I have is 7'2" in others 2" taller than the opening. . Can this door be installed so that it closes against the header on the inside rather than fitting under the header. I realize that it will not be plumb and that I would need to adjust the mounting position of the mounting bracket for correct balance. It will be manually operated and will be using Holmes garage door opener. It is a one piece steel panel door that would
be very difficult to cut down to shorten without compromising the rigidity of the bottom of the door, and the appearance. Thanks

I have only ever installed normal 3 panel garage doors (same issue came up). But the way the door tilts up I don't see why it would not work. You will may have to adjust the seals/trim around the rest of the door to make it work. You could always give the manufacture a call and see if they have any advice.

Thanks he 2” taller should pose a problem, resting against the header/lintel is typical. I was taught door should be at a slight angle when “closed” and NOT standing straight up/down in the opening. Presuming you currently have a one piece door now, make sure when it opens you have at least 2” of “headroom” between the top of the door and opener/etc whatever obstruction the taller door may come in contact with.
