garage door - gap spacing questions

Hi all,

So I am looking at my garage door installation and think they need to be adjusted. They were installed in March and now with the cold and wind, I am seeing and feeling the gaps. Question is what is the correct solution? I currently don't have openers, but the plan is to add liftmasters.

Also attached some pics. So should the weatherstripping piece be closer to the door? or the track closer? I even contemplated getting the green hinge system because I do get some wind against the doors and it would prevent the rattling.

Those look like my doors. Yes it needs to be adjusted a bit. The tabs on the side holding the rail have a slot that can be loosened and adjusted. The door should just touch the weather stripping.

FYI: I see this is a Clopay door, which should be the same as Ideal. All of my Ideal doors came with the tracks riveted in place. I had to drill out the rivets and add bolts to do any adjustments

I fought this for years. Get them too loose, they leak air. Get them too tight, the garage door jerks like crazy on the way up....which can't be good for the door.

I installed spring loaded hinges about 3 months ago that hold the door in tight to seal against air leaks, but will give when needed to allow the door to go up.

I did a lot of research on GJ before buying these. Homeowners seem to like them. Professional Garage Door Personnel seem to feel they are unnecessary and if the door is adjusted properly completely unneeded.

Well...I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and decades of experience with "all things mechanical" and I could not get my doors to stay adjusted until I bought these. I replaced all the rollers on my 15 year old overhead doors at the same time. My wife could not believe how much smoother the doors operate now. Neither could my kids. And I'm impressed that now that it's cold I don't have air leaking around my doors into my heated garage.

I think they are great. I now await the 3 or 4 people who professionally maintain and install doors and participate in this forum to tell me what an idiot I am. Here's some more ammo for them....I bought one set for one overhead door and liked the results so much I bought 2 more sets for the other 2 overhead doors.

I put metal flashing between the door and framing on my garage and adjusted the door up tight against it. No gaps and it slid on the metal and didn't bind when moving.

Openers usually push the door forward, closing that last 1/4” or so tight against the framing. The only spacing really important is down at the bottom. You could try adjusting the track but if your plan is to add openers I would do that first.

The gap shown in your pictures can be eliminated by adjusting the vertical door reveal to the vertical frame opening. Attached are a couple pictures of my Clopay Coachman doors. I see no daylight between the doors and framing.
