garage door gap

without pictures right now (can post some later)....On the bothsides of my 8 foot single car garage door there is a ton of light coming through. With snow already predicted for Chicago (waaaaaay too early), it is gonna get cold in there.

Suggestions for closing this gap?

Maybe the door just needs to be adjusted so it sits closer to the door jamb. The brackets along each side should have slotted mounting holes, loosen up the bolts and push the door in so it fits tighter.

If it is a big gap (1/4 to 1/2 inch) you need to do this.

Also, if you have a garage door opener and the door tracks are as close to the jam as they can be, the J-arm that extends to the door can sometimes be adjusted to put more pressure on the door and close small gaps.

There is also a trim board on the out side that you may be able to move closer.
