Garage Door Header

Hi, I’m planning to change our 2 door garage into a 1 door garage. I’ll be dealing with a 17’ span on a 22.5’ deep garage. I’d like to use wooden I beams, engineered trusses?, or LVL if I have to. LVL will be much heavier, awkward, and dangerous. I live in Columbus, Ohio and can’t find anywhere to get wooden I Beams or anyone to help figure sizes needed based on load carried.

Anybody care to chime in?

What you need for a header depends on what's above the door. I'd suggest you ask the same question over in General Garage Discussion.
