Garage door height

Okay I don't have a motorhome or a tall truck commercial truck. Do I really need to go taller than 8' on the overhead doors? I am trying to keep the ceiling low to keep the heating bill down during the Winter season.

My new F250 fits in easily with an 8' door. At minimum, I would have 10' sidewalls and an 8' door looks in porportion. Spend the money and buy a decent door that is already insulated for the Winter.

I think you are doing well at 8'. So many doors these days are 7' doors.

You'll be fine with 8'. I'm seeing more and more short lifted trucks than i am 6"-9"/9"-12" lifts these days. As long as you don't plan on owning any really lifted trucks.

My truck is leveled and sits right under 7'. I can't get it in my 7' door.

I have a 10 ft door, and my friend's motor home goes in nicely, with at least an inch to spare (seriously, that close!) Other than that, everything else would fit nicely with an 8 ft door. (I have 12 ft eves, so 10 ft doors look 'right')
