We bought an older farm house 2 years ago. Our garage doors are all giving us issues. Initially the door my wife used quit opening with the remote. This is an older genie brand opener. I changed battery’s and messed with it. Thought it was fixed and it quit again. I bought a new remote. Now occasionally when I hit the button on the old remote or new “universal” remote it will work. 95% of the time it doesn’t. Our other door opener is a “overhead door” brand I think. Switch on the wall works fine but once again the remote don’t work. I programmed the new remote and can’t get anything from it either. Then I tried the universal remote on my shop door. It opens it fine. When it closes it, it goes down a foot and right back up. I actually remember dealing with that when I programmed my truck to it shortly after we moved. The original remotes work fine on the shop door though so not an issues. What do I do with these other openers. I just want a damn remote that works….seems foolish to buy all new openers though.

Make sure that the door opener(s) receiver wires are fully extended downwards. Also make sure that you're not using LED lights in the openers themselves. Also clean and adjust the sensors located at the right and left sides of each door.

If the remotes use that 12 v battery is clean contacts that touch the battery and bend them a little to tighten them up.
