I just built a 36'x50' garage 16' eave height garage with a 20'x50' attic truss second floor and have questions about preparing the openings for garage doors. I'm gonna get 2- 14x14 clopay model 3720 doors installed and am wondering if the inside of the jambs need to be faced with 2x6's or not , I have 4-2x6's now 3 jack studs and one king stud, do they still need faced?

Generally the framing detailed for the doors is to bring everything onto the same plane - also lags into the end of a 2x6 tend to not hold as well as into the face.

So... If theres an adequate spring pad thats on the same plane as the jambs - not necessarily. But it is a best practice - and usually should be followed.

I know many installers would choose not to install if framing is not done to spec.

Probably not a bad idea to get the installer out there first to have them look, just to eliminate any surprises on install day. If the installer is smart, they'll come check it out on their own first.

Yea, but he is driving 45 minutes and installing both doors for $300, so I doubt he's gonna come out and look at it first and waste fuel. But I sent him some pictures asking his opinion.

Yea but I already wrapped the jambs and I didnt want any wood exposed on the outside, I tried uploading a picture off my phone but it says there is a security token missing?

Depends on the brand but most cover 1 ¾" commercial definitely should.

Hard to say on center spring pad - on a 14x14 it could have a center coupler and or 4 spring configuration - depends on how its been ordered, but at least 2x12 on center, have some leftover 2x6 on hand in case its another configuration .
