Garage Door Keypad

Good Evening, does anyone know anything about keypads for garage door openers? It has worked fine for many years and changed the battery when needed. The door openers we keep in the vehicles work but the keypad quit working. I changed the battery but did not make any difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

wireless keypads sometime loose the codes...... this is what has happened to mine...

try reprogramming it. you know push the learn button on the opener and enter the code again. sometimes if the battery goes completely dead you have to reprogram them. if that doesn't work you will most likely have to replace the keypad.

If it is wired, try jumping the two wires together to see if the door opens. If it does, then you have a bad keypad. If it does not, you have issues in the wiring or the opener itself.

BTW, if you have a Liftmaster opener, you can use remotes from Sears/Craftsman to open the door. I found biometric scanners at Sears for $19.00 that work great. It has a fingerprint scanner in it. They were on clearance and I was told Sears was not going to carry them anymore.

Okay, you made me search for that one. Looks like you probably have Craftsman's EntryEase.

I have a key pad one right now and in the Northeast, even using it seldom, the battery doesn't make it a winter. If the EntryEase were hard wired, I'd get one, but it's not so I doubt the battery life will be any better. Additionally, doesn't look like you can use the EntryEase on 2 doors like I do now either, so I'd possibly have to pick up two of these to replace my one, or only control a single door.

How long did your battery typically last and how often (roughly/average) did you use it?

You are correct...it is the EntryEase......the one on the big-garage/shop has had the original battery in it for about 1.5 years. In East Tennessee, it gets cold for a few months a year and below freezing for several days at a stretch.

I use it a couple of times a day most days...and then not-at-all on other days....i guess 7-10 times a week at least.
