Garage door layout - ideas?

Hi Everyone,

So i am very close to pulling the trigger on my 36 wide by 30 deep garage.

I am thinking 3' man door and two 12x9 doors on the eave end. Walls will be 12.5' for future lift (far right bay) and attic truss. The attachment shows initial layout I am thinking. The rectangle on the left represents where the stairs will go. (upper landing).
I drive an Excursion daily and have a big off-road jeep. We also have a minivan - so no small vehicles!

This is on paper - how about feedback from anyone who has a close setup?
Also - what is the best way to get pricing on 12x9 doors? Seems like nobody lists them on websites - are they that uncommon? I guess call all the suppliers?

Thanks!
Joe

A 12x10 door may be more common. If it is more common,it might also be cheaper to buy rather than to have one custom built.

Check around locally and see what is carried in the big box stores, not that you'll be buying from them, but to see what manufacturers are shipping to your area.

I know Wayne Dalton has a custom door app on their website. That be worth checking out.

Layout is pretty simple 9' door is 4/21" panels and 1/24".
That is the same as my shop 36' wide gable end think it is about 4' equal space ends and center.
Don't know about online prices I did it once think it was Amarr or ?? Garage doors are a regional thing so pricing will vary.
My doors are 12'wide 14' tall.

If your parking an excursion 30' may not be deep enough. I park an expedition in a 24'9" deep and theres not a whole lot of room left over.

The door size is not cookie cutter so they are seldom listed. Height is available in 3" increments so whatever you need they can make. If you are planning a lift make sure you have head room or plan to follow roof pitch. You are best served by a local dealer that will work with you on design and/or installation. They are usually a lot more competitive price wise on non standard doors.

I hear ya. My buddy has a 28' deep one and it works ok and the 2 feet would be better. Any more than that and my attic trusses get too long.

Gotcha! I usually put a bunch of **** in the front end of the garage, I was thinking out loud that the room from the front of the truck to the wall will be a bit tighter. I know it is with mine. I know that big truck of yours has got to be a couple feet longer than my Exp., plus its the short version.
