Hey Guys,
I just received my shipment from Garage Door Lighting and finished filming the unboxing video. I'm planning to do an install video this weekend. Is there anything specific you guys want to know about the kit that I should be sure to capture? Let me know in the next few days and I'll be sure to focus on those topics when filming the install video.

Also, do you think when I get it installed an R8 will magically appear in my garage? :bounce: one can only hope!

Hey Guys!

I'll be heading to the garage this afternoon to film the installation video. Any specifics you would like to see? If not, I should have the video out next week.

how you get power to the led's on a door that moves 8' - 10'. I imagine there is a wire that flexes either on a reel or just hangs - would guess it is going to be a point of failure.

Watched the unboxing, looks like there is a bracket with a set of POGO pins that gives the LEDs power once the door is opened, not a bad idea. Probably wouldnt be too difficult to do DIY with a couple LED strips and contacts.
Downside is no light when the door is shut.

Yeah! I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a "Safe" idea to power these when the door is shut. I got all the LED strips mounted and wired this weekend. I still have to mount those brackets and the power supply. However, I was able to use some alligator clips with jumper wires to verify that they all turn on.

I should have the Pt.1 install video edited and out next week. Pt. 2 the following week.

There is a protective loom that does a great job protecting the wires. I'll be sure to take some close ups in the Pt. 2 install video. Pt. 1 coming next week.

I had a DIY set up on the garage door at our old house (sorry, no pictures). I had a loop on the cord with a small weight hanging on it. When the door was open, the weight pulled out the slack.

It worked great for me. I did find, however, that I normally only used the lights when the door was open.

Great insight!
