Garage door not working after moving push button

I had to move the garage door push button (PB), and after doing so, it does not work any more. This what I did.

I turned off breaker feeding the unit.

I removed the low voltage cable from the PB. While doing so I noticed there were markings on the back for RED and WHT, and that the wires where reversed.

I rerun the cable to the other side or the wall.

I reconnected the wires, but silly me, I think is where I screwed up, I thought, l will rewire properly, not even thinking that possibly the wire was hooked wrong at the opener end.

Any idea of what troubleshooting I can do before I call the service and tell me to replace the opener or the system board?

IDT the order of the wires is the problem. Often times the wires are stapled and barely making contact due to the staple. When you disturb the wires you loose continuity. Check that first.

Check wiring.

Disconnect from opener.
Check for continuity with button pushed.
Staple possibly through wire.
Maybe show a pic of connection point at opener.

Hook the wires up to the push button the same way they were before, with the red and white wires reversed, and see if it works then.

Red vs white should not be an issue if it’s a simple pushbutton. All it does is complete the circuit. Now if the button does other things, like vacation lockout etc, it could be the problem.

If you disconnect the wires from the button and manually touch them together yourself, the opener should operate. If that works, something is wrong with the button. If it still doesn't work, go to the opener, take a short piece of wire, and short the terminals on the opener together. Again, the opener should operate. If it works then, then the wiring is damaged at some point. If it STILL doesn't work, then there's something internally wrong with the opener.

I am back. First let me apologize because, I wrote a reply thanking for all suggestions, pending having the time to go through them, bu I realize now I never submitted it.

Now, update. When I was testing, I was taking playing with the braker on a off. Today I went there, and was contemplating where was the step ladder and so on, and my eyes noticed the red light on the GFCI for the circuit under the breaker box.

Duh on me!

Here is another one. A couple of years ago I was doing some electrical work, with a hand held meter, and when minutes later went to use it again, it would not turn on. For some reason got into my head that I had used it on ohms instead of voltage and set it aside.

Long later, I though, I will have to replace that fuse, so I opened the meter all the way, checked the fuse and was good!

Duh! The batteries!

At my age every day is a bit funnier !

I tell my wife that I always do the "dumb guy stuff" all the time. It is those moments that make me go back and check the simple things first after I notice something is not working anymore! And it usually ends up being something like I turned something off, or I unplugged something.

Last week I noticed that after it rained my rain barrel was not full of water, but completely empty. I thought what the hell happened, it should be full of water?

So I opened up the lid, disconnected the hose from the downspout to check it for a clog, but that was clear. I unhooked the downspout to check for a clog. But that was clear. I checked the gutter for a clog but that was clear.

I was just about to give up when I noticed that I had left the spigot on the bottom of the rail barrel in the open position after I used up all the water from the last time I got water from the barrel. I forgot to turn it to the closed position and all that water from the rain just ran right out of the barrel! I felt like such an ***. Jim
