Garage door opener issues.

I have a typical(?) electric opener on one of my shop doors. It'll open but not close from the remote. The blinking light on one of the safety sensors indicates misalignment of those sensors. But, much moving around of both won't give me the non blinking red light I need for normal operation. What am I missing? Thank you

Try pressing and holding down the button on the remote (wireless or wall) to overide the safety/misalignment sensor. This should allow you to close the door.in The mean time
Check the continuity of all four sensors wires coming out of the sensors modules and going into the garage door motor sensor terminals.

This will lead to one of three most common issues.

A- bad wire lead- these single wire copper leads can have breaks in them.

B- bad sensor or misalignment. Try and wiggle both sensors to re-align them or replace them with new ones from sears,Hd ect

C- mother board is defective. It's rare but the mother board on the garage door system may need replacement.

More than likely your problem will be with alignment of sensors or a bad wire lead. If you search this issue on YouTube you'll come across some helpful tips as well.

Keeping the button pressed worked for me too the other day too when the same thing happened to my opener which I have since tore out to be ready for the LM 3800 going in.

Well, I guess I don't get to "learn" today, as it's now working without any changes from yesterday. I hope I remember the holding the button trick in the future. BTW, does that work with really old units?

It must, my old unit was a POS Genie screw drive.
