The light bulb in the garage door opener will not come on. You can hear the relay clicking on and off but the light does not come on. I have tried three different bulbs. Is there a way to troubleshoot the socket and replace?
It is a Wayne ProDrive garage door opener if that matters.

I could also replace the garage lights switch with a motion sensor, but I'm a little concerned I won't be able to because it's a three-way switch. If I did use a motion sensor, would I have to replace both switches that controls those garage lights?

I doubt that the socket is bad, but not totally out of question. You need to open up the case and use a volt meter to check how far power is making it through the unit. The odds are it's the control board. How old of an opener is it?

I've seen a lot of bulbs that quit working due to arcing inside the sockets. Over time, the operator vibrates the bulb slightly loose in the socket which creates a tiny gap between the contacts. That style of operator, although pretty tough, is a quite a vibrating/buzzy one. The arcing exposes raw metal on both contacting surfaces that corrodes over time. Usually, "vigorously" unscrewing and rescrewing in the light bulb re-establishes a solid contact. After trying 3 different bulbs, this is probably not your problem. Unplug the operator, remove the bulb, and clean the contacts inside the socket with a small wire brush. If all is clean and you still don't have voltage in the socket, then you'll have to open up the operator. What wattage of bulb did you originally have in there?
