Garage Door Opener Needed for Short Install Length

I am looking to replace my iDrive door opener. The door is 7 feet tall, the challenge (I think) is I have a short install length. The distance from the header wall back into the garage is only 113 inches, then there is a beam that goes the width of the garage. I believe the short length is why iDrive was used in the first place.

From the searches I did it appears most standard garage door openers would require at least 124 inches for install.

Can anyone recommend a garage door opener that would work in this short space?

To be clear when I say short it is not height, but rather depth into the garage.

Look at a Liftmaster 8500, no length required at all, it mounts to the spring bar above the door.

This is the way I will go when the current GDO gives up.

Unfortunately you probably have a Torque Master set up instead of Torsion Spring! How much clearance is there from the floor to the bottom of the beam?

A hacksaw will make most opener tracks shorter and bicycle tools will work on the chain.

Genie screw drive! with a hack saw you can cut off wherever you need, external limits as well, adjust them wherever you want.

They don't sell those ones anymore upndown. The new style doesn't cut down nice at all.

I'd just bite the bullet to a torsion spring conversion and 8500 but I'm silly like that

****!! that really limits your choices. No matter what you cut down, your doors not going to open all the way!

One more thing to check, Wayne Dalton did make an iDrive for torsion springs, If that's the case you're in luck. If not I agree with Andy..Time for a conversion. Good luck!

I've been looking at the 8500. Can it be setup to open the door to different heights? I'd like to be able to open it a bit to let air in and then all the way to drive in/out.

Yeah, They switched to that stupid "looks like a steel stud" rail on everything. Wait till you try to assemble a retail box screw drive The threaded rod clips are awesome (and don't bother trying if it's cold out)

I've only installed a couple retail box openers, Pro series only for me! The way I see it is if you want an opener from HD, You install it!
