Garage Door Opener problem

Hey guys,

I could use a little help. I have 2 chamberalin whisper drive garage door openers. They are only 6 months old. When I was drywalling I took the push button off the wall and the garage door opener kept opening and closing (because I didn't kill the power and the wires were touching). Anyway, the motor stopped working and when I pust the button it only hums. The diagnostic light blinks 5 times and that says it could be stuck on the stop bolt (which it is not) or it could be the RPM sensor. Luckily I have two so that I can take parts off and test on the other. I took the cover off both. The cover has the logic board and everything on it. I swaped them and I still have the same problem. So at least I know I didn't fry the board. Does anyone have any suggestions or a way to test it? I can post pictures if you want.

Hey Thanks!!! Swapped them out and it fixed the problem. The bad one had what looked like JB Weld type stuff on the outside. Not sure if that had something to do with it or not but I really appreciate the help. Now I just need to get a replacement one. Again thanks alot.

No sweat! The stuff you saw was where it "blew" kind of like a fuse. Happened because they are not meant to go up and down more than a few times before needing to cool off.
