I am not a door expert by any means, but I would think the door opener isn't the biggest concern, it would be the springs that do most of the work of lifting the garage door. I imagine the springs will have to be rather strong in order to make the door lift easily.

^This. If the springs are set up properly, you should be able to lift any door by hand, so the opener doesn't need to be any stronger for a larger door than a smaller one. I'm guessing that big door came with some hefty springs that were lots of fun to preload?

I've 16x10's, Chamberlain Jackshaft opener has worked fine for 6yrs now.

That's what I have ordered, but the smaller version. Lift Master 3800, but Chamberlain makes commerial units that hare actually way cheaper than the Residential versions.
