I would like to see if anyone could post a picture of their mechanical garage door opening "system" NOT conventional electric door openers. Possibly pulley? Crank

My brother in law just built a new house with a 12' garage ceiling because he wants to eventually install an above ground lift. He opted for the new LiftMaster 8500 system for garage door openers. His are just like the ones in this video. They are cool and are on my wish list!

Nothing for you here. I just grab the handle and lift. I could show you a picture of my bicep!

I am limited to 10 lbs lift for the next 3 months until some healing is completed. I could easily install a side mount electric lift but would prefer something manual to ease lifting. I thought there might be some creative minds here

Good excuse to get that opener installed now, and enjoy for many years to come. Definitely go with the 8500, they are great!

Tighten up your springs a little. You can probably get it set so you can lift the door with one finger. If it opens itself, you've gone too far.

If you park in your garage ,you have a screw loose ! lol sorry couldn't resist ! Once you drive up and push a button ,drive in and push the close button you'll say why didn't I think of this years ago ! At zero degrees next week you can't sit outside and blow the horn. $265.00 USD Liftmaster 3900 LM

Gotta agree w/ the others....spend the coin and get a door opener. If you have nothing now, an 8500 is awesome. If money is a concern, there are cheaper options.

I've had a rotator cuff repair and neck fusion, so I understand the lifting restrictions. Last thing I wanted to do during those recoveries was lift a garage door. I don't think I could have to been honest.

But theoretically, the more pulleys you install the less actual strength you have to exhibit to open/lift a said item.

Thanks all!
I will start with getting springs adjusted, I hope they make a big difference. I don't recall door ever lifting that easy but likely we have just become conditioned to it over the years....has to be a 40lb lift right now...I'll get the boy over to adjust it tomorrow. ..

#1 son tightened garage door springs today. Made a world of difference, so the wife says.

Note to self. Adjust door spring again January 2038, or sooner if required.(and oil rollers)
