In our new house we have Marantec. They are super quiet work smoothly. I had forgotten how loud those chain drive openers really are until I went to my buddies house a couple of weekends ago.

I just installed a Chamberlain from Home Depot. The Sears openers are basically rebadged Chamberlain ones, and the guy who installed the door for me recommended both brands. So far so good, but then again it's only been less than a week, and opened/ closed about ten times.

If your addition includes living space above the garage, especially a bedroom you should look into a belt drive. I understand they're much quieter than chain drive, but with my garage 100' from the house, I simply saved the few $ in price difference and went with a chain drive.

I just had a new garage door installed and got a Liftmaster 3800 with it. It's belt driven ... very smooth and quiet. It's wall mounted so it cleared up a lot of space over the workshop floor.

My wife got me two 1/2 horse Chamberlains last year. I really resisted putting them in, but I did, and they work well. I am running one on a 14' Clopay 2'' insulated door, and it has been fine. They also have a 3/4 horse model, but apparently the guy at the store recommended this model, and it has worked well.

I ran the wires from the switch and the sensors through the middle of the tube that holds the chain drive, with a small hole drilled near the pulley end. That made for a really clean installation.
