I have a old Genie garage door opener on my shop. The safety sensor broke. Is the a way to bypass them? I am the only one That is in there so not worried about that. Do not want to spend the money on a old unit that still works.

Ok, I'll be THAT GUY who says it: Intentionally bypassing a built in safe device is a BAAD idea. You may be the only one in there but what about a neighbor kid, a dog or cat, bird or whatever?

Sensors saved my cat a couple of times. Would hate to be responsible if a child or animal were injured.

I agree. The unit is not working and should be repaired properly. A new pair of sensors is $35-40 from any number of retailers and they are as cheap as $20 on ebay

Define "Broke"? Did it get smashed? Did a wire get cut? Is it out of alignment? If you really cannot fix it, check Marketplace or Craigslist. Can usually get a whole opener unit used really cheap.

Sensor got wet and has not work since. No lights on it and tried rearming it with no luck.

Contact a garage door company in your area. Bet they have some tear outs for cheap. Even better would be find a tech out working and give him a 12 pack, he’ll probably install them too.
