Garage door Openers/Lifts

Gents,

I could use some recommendations on openers. Who makes the better lifts based on useful life and ruggedness? I would like to have the lift operate on the side and not down the middle to allow for extra ceiling heighth. Is this type problematic?

Liftmaster is a well-respected brand. I am installing this one in my garage with high ceilings...
