Has anyone made their own openers or know of a commercial source for reasonably priced units. I'm installing two 10'W x12'H metal, foam filled, torsion spring doors in my new shop building. Thanks, Mike

Few pics of old barn expansion.

I haven’t built one from scratch.
Yet. ( I am thinking about a shaft spinner style.)
But I have been know to modify some.
Most often longer “legs” for taller doors or changing gearing for lifting a heavy door.

They can be adapted for other uses as well
I was at an indoor pistol range the other day and realized the machine for moving the targets back and forth was nothing more than a garage door opener with a very long track and a distance calculator.
I was also in a shop where a guy shortened one, hid it between a workbench and the wall and used it to slide a door security bar back and forth. He had remote controlled, heavy duty, door protection.
