Garage door Openers

Hello all i'm new to this forum and wanted to see if anyone has had the same issue as me. Well I have a basic ten year old 1/2 HP liftmaster garage door opener and it seems as if the logic board (A41A583) is starting to fail,

· Symptoms of the logic board

o LED learning indicator does not turn on, even during teaching.

o Random functionality with wireless remotes (sometimes the wireless remotes work (like the morning) while other times they don’t (in the afternoon))

Well before i get a new logic board ($60) if anyone has ever analyzed a none-working logic circuit board (any liftmaster logic board) and if so what is the typical failed component on them.

I have a feeling it might be the transformer starting to fail, which would be any easy fix.

Mine is an 11 year old Genie Accelerator that I've had to replace the board in twice.
I called genie and got a new board free twice.

Maybe give lift master a call before you spend any $$

Have you installed any new Florescent lights you use in the afternoon? RF could be your problem maybe?? Otherwise give lift master a call.

Liftmaster's trolley opener's do not have a issue with boards. Years ago I quit carrying genie because of bad boards. You had to carry new boards with you to installs and you may or may not have a good one out of the box. I have only installed a few genies in the years since with no trouble. Liftmaster has had no such issue. Though I've had some 3800 and a couple 8500 that have had issuse's with bad encoders out of the box.

Have you checked the batteries in your remotes? As they lose voltage they do what you describe. you may first notice that your range of operation get less.

As to the led not working in the learn mode it could be the led. Are you able to recode after pushing the button. Why are you recoding? This should not effect the remotes.

Do yo have any problems with the wall button?

Your openers should be plugged into a surge surpressor. Your other electronics are.

Thanks for the replies.
Nothing is new, I do have fluorescent bulbs that have been on the opener well over 6 months.

But to make sure its not that, will install some standard bulbs.

I have three openers ( an original opener and two LiftMaster 375LM ) it happens to all three, random working times throughout the day. I was able to reprogram all three when this started happening but it seems as its just getting worse.

Also will get new batteries for all three.

Wall mount works perfectly.

I'll update this post hopefully with these changes this weekend.

Logic boards, sequensors as well as external radio controls can go bad on any brand opener. I've seen lightning storms and power surges blow out the radio control portion of your logic board, but the opener still works from the wall button.

The light not coming on when you hit the smart button indicates there's a problem, which you already know. Never seen the little LED burn out! Good luck.

As stated above, you might want to try a new battery first.

As mentioned New batteries in all 3 remotes, no fluorescent bulbs and still same results. Yesterday and today I opened the garage door via door switch and when i left the wireless remote closed it fine. Yesterday evening 5 pm ish would not open.

Going to start the process in contacting liftmaster. Lets see what they say.

If anyone has had gotten access to the schematics would love to diagnose the board my self.

Liftmaster says i got my moneys worth (ten years) and should buy a new one.

I ended up getting a $20 RFID and tied it to the wall switch now i can access the switch wirelessly from the outside, unfortunately i still have to get out of the car to get close enough (4 inches) to the antenna of the RFID reader. Hey for $20 if we are still running why not! better than $60 for a new motherboard and then have that fail.
