Garage Door Openers

Manual .. At Coldspring, one of my tasks was opening the garage doors , pulling on a chain .. GOOD exercise ..that was 50 years ago , now its the
Electric motor assisted overhead door .. a push of a button .. and hope it works and breaks not .. Over time , 40-50 years or so, the cable and the chain stretch and need periodic cleaning, lubrication and tensioning ..
This I did not do .. so , I'll guess this the reason why she flipped her chain .. and I have to figure out HOW TO reinstall the chain...
I think I have to find the adjusting screw and back off enough ..
Please help ..
The brand ? Stanley Deluxe 1/5 HP .. so old that the plastic cover is cracked where it mounts ..I think its top quality(unit and door) but old. The door is rather heavy, I wonder if 0.5 HP is sufficient ?

Its Stanley Deluxe remanufactured .. so, it may be newer than 1997 . And I seem to be "out of luck", where it comes to an instruction manual . There may be another brand which is identical ?

Can't help with your question, but it is important to properly adjust the springs on the door so that it takes very little effort to lift it up. Once this is done .5 HP is more than up to the task.

You say you haven't serviced it in 40-50 years.. Might be a good Time to call a Pro and have it serviced!

I always had more luck with screw drive units.

But garage doors are no joke. Be VERY careful. Those springs are under enough tension to KILL you. Seriously.
