Long time lurker first time poster.

I'm having a new garage floor poured Friday!! It is going to be 5.5 inches thick vs the 4 that came out of it. With the additional height the rough opening of the garage door is going to shrink 1.5". Do I need to get a custom sized door? or can everything just move up to make it work?

The door, track and all can be moved up and reinstalled. It will look a tad odd with some of the top panel detail hidden behind the header but it will function ok. Make sure you don’t just cut the track off at the floor. It may throw the correct geometry of the door off enough to make it tough to seal.

So here is what I'm going with. I'm doing all the prep work, which is the hardest part. When initially putting the base in I did not slope it front to back. I spent some time sloping the base by removing material from the front of the garage. Here are a couple pics of the progress. I should probably start a build thread.camphoto_1804928587.jpgIMG_0682.jpg

Wish I could fin a pic but no luck. Your 1.5 inches will be perfect though. When the form is built lay a 2x4 flat so the new concrete stops just inside the door. This way your door can still go all the way down to the old concrete and rain will not come inside because it would have to travel 1.5 inches up to get in.

Child and slave labour is against the law isn't it? And besides the compactor your using there looks like it isn't quite capable of getting the required level of compaction for a typical GJ caliber of slab.

Child labor...hopefully one day. It was there very own indoor sand box for a week. Hopefully I can upload a picture of the concrete when it is done.
