Hey guys I am wrapping up my garage and looking for a single door. Here is my problem I can not seem to find anywhere that will simply supply the parts for the door. I am more then capable of installing a door. Also if there is a source to find barn style doors. Even a resource to build them. This garage is to store two cars.

Any ideas where to look or a resource on building garage doors.

Thanks,

Tyler

Alot of guys will take a commercial steel door and fasten the wood to it. It does take some engineering figuring out the springs and longer jamb brackets to compensate for the thickness of the wood.

Here is a link to buy a DIY wood door kit nothing fancy just a traditional raised panel design. Look at some of their other doors and you can get an idea of how they are constructed.

I do alot of stuff myself but usually leave the stuff I don't know how to do to the pros. A garage door install can be one of those things that can aggravate you to death, not too mention as you have found out already not alot of companies are willing to help the DIY customer.

I bought some doors about 6 yrs ago from a Clopay distributor and installed them myself. They were metal, I don't know if Clopay makes wood doors. It was a little bit of a learning experience but I got through it and they have operated smoothly since then.
