Garage Door Problem

I bought my home that had a defect. The top panel of my
16' garage door is buckling. It has a metal strut that was installed after the door started bending. My thoughts are the following: The metal strut is bent now. Therefore I have concluded that replacing the current strut will result in another bent strut. I have chosen the following solution. I will remove the bent strut and replace it with a 16' 2x4. The 2x4 must snap before it will bend. I doubt it will break or bend. Anybody have any better ideas. I will not replace the strut again.

Does it have an opener? If so, disconnect it and see how the door ballances, it shouldn't take much effort to get off the floor. The reason the top section is bending I'd because of the opener arm. We put 2x2x1/8" galvanized angles on ours to help reinforce since it's cheaper and stronger the the normal struts they send. After to replace the strut with what ever you use, double check the balance of the door to see it the tension needs readjusted.

If the section is cracked, replace it since all measures will be futile as the integrity of the section is compromised

You have to make sense of what twisted that top segment and strut! Conceivably affectability conformity or opener mounted too high. 2x4 is not the answer..too much flex!

On the off chance that the segment is broken, supplant it since all quantifies will be worthless as the uprightness of the segment is traded off
