Hi all
I'm in the market for 3 new commercial doors. So far Ive got quotes from Martin, Raynor and wayne-Dalton. They need to have good insulation and hold up to strong winds. Raynor is $2000 more then the others, are they worth it? What's everybody's though?

I put in 3 Raynor commercial garage doors in last fall, and while I'm not sure if I would have paid a full $2000 more than the competition, I have to admit that they seem to be constructed much more sturdily than the cheaper ones I had put on my other garage. The steel was thicker- both the inside shell and outside, so they also weigh a good bit more and use a heavier spring to help lift them. The hardware seems more heavy duty also, but the cheaper doors were not ceiling huggers and the Raynors are. I am confident that the Raynors will outlast the cheaper units, but I am also pretty sure they will both outlast me.

I have never heard of Martin, so I don't know how good or bad they are, but I can speak for the others. There is good reason that the Raynor is that much more than the Wayne Dalton, they are just that much better. In my book most Wayne Dalton products are a joke, they are just cheap in every aspect. Raynor makes a great product, with the exception of one of their doors. I know a lot of the Tri cor(3" thick doors) doors had issues with getting moisture inside of them making them dangerously heavy, to the point where they almost become a guillotine. We have replaced quite a few due to this, some were older and some were as new as like 5 or 6 years old. Just something to keep in mind when buying. I would highly recommend the Raynor over a Wayne Dalton door any day.

Another good door is CHI, we install them. See if you have a dealer in your area, I would bet they come in cheaper than Raynor and offer just as good of a product.

Every manufacturer has high-end and low-end models, its just like lawnmowers. I have a 12x12 coil up Wayne Dalton that is double wall with insulation in the middle. It is built like a tank.

Each manufacturer has their own high and low end specs. You need to compare specs between quotes to make sure you are comparing apples and apples. Sometimes the guy who quotes you the thing you need (which can cost more) loses the bid to the guy who quotes the cheapest door that will fill the hole.

Compare gauge, wind rating, gauge of rail, coating, etc.

Hope this helps.
