I posted previously about putting a 9 x 8 rollup garage door in my 9 x 7 opening that is a no go due to overhead clearance. From my searching finding a good used 7 ft tall door isn’t as easy as I would have thought. I can find 6ft and 8ft pretty regularly.

I have now come across a used 10 x 7 door and want to see if being a foot wider than my opening will cause any unforeseen problem(s). My current rolling door is already 3 inches wider than the opening and I have plenty of clearance for 6 inches on each side.

The door is a 1st United Door Technologies G24LP if that matters.

Thank you for your input.

Its not bad but you have to build a way to support the overhead wall + roof while you tear out the header and install a new, wider one. It could involve sawing concrete depending how the foundation wall (if present) is setup there. The framing is generally easy, then there are the details of how to replace the siding and trim.
