I am looking to replace 3 9x8 garage doors.

I have quotes for Clopay Gallery, and Amarr Designers Choice both with low e windows and 19 R value coming in around $3000 a door installed.

Have these prices come down from the inflated building materials prices of last year, or are they still at peak pricing. I don't need new doors, more of a cosmetic upgrade and can wait for prices to come down. The lead times for both doors is 3-4 weeks, so that tells me the supply vs demand is essentially back to normal.

I can't imagine over $1000,00 labor for a door replacement
if it is a one for one replacement, they can use the existing tracks and just replace the panels
that is a 2 or 3 hour job per door

what is the cost of the new door?

Only one of the quotes breaks It out and it is $500 a door for installation. So $2500 for the door and 500 for installation. The other quote is almost the same

I think $3k for a well insulated single car garage door is probably (unfortunately) in the ballpark (still). We were still having some pressure even getting them in the last 12 months. And you've got 3 quotes.

My only other piece of advice, if you're considering garage door openers, consider the "one *** to kick" theory. If they install it all they have to warranty it all. I'm currently on service call #4 of a 1.5 year old garage door, opener, and 3 different contractors (opener warranty, opener installer, garage door company/installer, and "independent" service company). It's all warrantied, but lots of finger pointing and it's all coming out of my pocket for now.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I will have the same installer replace the openers as well. I am just trying to determine if the prices I am getting are still with the price runups factored in, or if the prices have come down from the peak. As we all know prices are quick to rise, but slow to come back down when the material prices have already dropped. I am replacing for cosmetic reasons so I can wait.

I was quoted 5000 for a 14x12 door with opener. Problem is they were 6 months out. I said what about just the door and opener. Said 4300. I'm thinking that the door can be bought for 2500 and opener for 400? Too much mark up. I called a guy out to quote a garage door and frame it in. Said in a month he could do it. It's been 2 weeks and no quote. I know door takes 3 weeks to get.

A few months ago we paid $12k for three 8x7 insulated with a window at the top and a design trim in the front , with the side shaft opener .

They had to come back and replace one opener THREE times .
Third service guy figured out the installer nicked a sensor wire with a staple .

As mentioned
Get the doors and install from the same biz

Otherwise everyone will blame everyone else for whatever problems you have .
No one will take responsibility for it .

We withheld the last $200 of the $12k and the bastards called uo every day wanting the money and we just kept telling them “ when you fix it and it works for 30 days after you fix it , you get the other $200.”

It didn’t matter to them that they already had $11,800 of the $12k and one of our doors randomly didn’t work .
