Garage door rough in dimensions

So I am getting ready to put my 2x8 boards around my garage door opening and I will be 9'1" wide when done. Do I have to be at 9' exact or is 9'1" ok? I
Know I will be putting trim and the seal trim around the opening but what about mounting the door? Will 1" be ok or do I need to put a 1/2" board all around to make my end rough opening exactly 9'?

I made my rough opening exactly 10' wide x 8' tall. (I have a 10' wide x 8' tall door). The trim boards got nailed directly to the rough-in studs. The door seals got screwed to the trim boards.

Ok but can my rough in be 1" wider 9'1" wide instead of exactly 9' I am wondering will my door mounts compensate for the 1/2" loss on each sides.?

9-1 is right, you have plenty of adjustment with your mounting brackets

9'1" is good. When you do your finish work get some primed pine or whatever you want to use to finish the opening. The seals will cover.

I saw at lowes a rot free 8" finish planks, it's composite materials so I can use that and put brick moulding over the fron to have my j channel **** up against It.

Got it put in fine, just needs some tweaking a bit.
