Garage door rough opening question

Getting ready to frame in the rough opening for a 18x10 garage door. What should my rough opening be? Should the finished opening be exactly 18' x 10'?

Yes finished is 18 x 10 or a whisker smaller. The door sits inside the building, not inside the opening. Hope this helps.

Depending on your climate. For my climate I like the height to be a half inch under and width a inch. Both finished measurements. I feel you get a better seal with less chance of cold air leakage.

I don't have a door picked yet so don't know the manufactures dimensions

Send some time on different mfgs sites and see if there is a common size given.

The houses I build we frame 1" wide and 1" tall compared to nominal.

We use 1x to wrap the jambs then brick mold. Door supplier has. Jamb sweep and bottom door seal.
