Garage door track---Hose rollers?

Before I start hacking some solution together, I'm wondering if anybody here has any decent solution to a simple problem:

I have a few hose reels in my garage that I often pull out of the garage to use in the driveway/front yard.

When pulling the hoses, they rub up against the garage door track, or for steeper angles, they may even rub up agains the door seals causing damage to them.

Was figuring I'd build some sort of fold-out roller that I could use to keep the hoses away from the hardware: but I wasn't sure if anybody had any simpler/commercially available ideas?

I would build a "hump" on the casing outside the door to gently ease the hose. Whatever you do, it will need to stick out further than your tracks, so you will also want to make sure it is mounted sacrificially so it will tear away if something hits it hard. (So it doesn't tear the door apart.)

I don't know of anything specific, but they make those to plant in the yard around potentially abrasive things like retaining walls, you may be able to mod something like that to work. Or even a run of the mill pulley mounted to the wall or something.

Then again in the spirit of GJ, maybe better to knock out a section of wall and put in a double-door system like doctor's offices use in the toilet to return... things.

Search "Winch roller fairleads" which leads to an even better search,

Hose Roller Guide

You should be able to mount one of those to guide the hose where you want it

What about a removable rescue pulley or ****** block on a short line that hooks in to an eye bolt mounted on the top or sides of the garage door framing outside? If using the sides, you would just hook in to whichever one is opposite the direction of pull.

The rope or cable diameter it is designed to handle would be a key issue, but sailboat shops have some rather large sheaves that could probably handle the hose.

Instead of trying to figure out some contraption that will solve this, look at it another way: pull out the hose you need first, let it fall to the ground, and then it won't rub on anything. In other words, change the way you use the hose.
