Garage Door Track Mounting

Greetings, and thanks to all who have inspired this garage aficionado! I am in the closing stages of building my workshop (several years in the making) I am proud to say that every detail from the beveled wood siding, authentic log rafters, shiplap interior walls, and tongue and groove floor has been crafted by yours truely- nothing storebought aside from roofing, sheathing, doors and windows. Anyways, access is through either a service door or an 8 ft wide garage door. My question is: can the garage door track be mounted directly to the shiplap pine boards on the wall? Every other overhead door installation I have seen has the track mounted to 2x4s, which are fastened to the wall. There is solid framing beneath to fasten to. I am just after the cleanest installation possible. Thanks again everyone

As long as your fasteners extend into the framing it should be fine. If the door is already mounted to the framing the brackets will move inward by the thickness of the interior siding and you door won't seal against the weatherstripping.

You'll need to adjust the track on the brackets so the depth is correct.

You could do this as long as your wall aligns correctly with the path of the door opening. You also may need to adjust the track to get proper operation and if adjustment is needed how you going to do this? You may already be to far along in the build to change but one of the mistakes I made was to get the door opening to close to the side wall. Being to close to the wall makes it hard to open the door of a rig pulled in and/or no room for storage along the wall.
