Garage Door Track Screws

I just installed a high lift door conversion and want to change the garage door track screws that came with the kit.

The screws that came with the kit have a rounded head and it appears that the door rollers are hitting the rounded heads. The track mounting screw that were originally installed on the door track have a flat head.

I have searched several places and cannot find garage track mounting screws with a flat head, all I can are round headed screws.

The screws are 1/4" dia. and 5/8" long with a knurled/ribbed shank area just below the head.

Does anybody know a source for flat headed garage door mounting screws?

Attached is a picture showing one of the door track joints. Three of the bolts are flat headed the other is a round headed bolt.

As for teh suggestion to use elevator bolts I think the head is too wide and the shank has a square carriage bolt. (At least based on what I have seen on McMaster Carr.)

so what shank do you need? I just go to my hardware store, and wander the loose screws looking for ones I need (Lost), and learned about elevator bolts.

I had that problem and I took roloc sanding disk to the head to flatten it out a bit. Just needed a little off to clear. The slotted end still had enough meat to be useful while allowing the wheels to clear.

One thing I didn't see mentioned was if the tracks need adjustment. The brackets to hold the tracks to the wall usually have a slot so you can adjust them. If they are to close together then the rollers may hit the screws. If you move them out 1/4 to 1/2" then there should be some room and the rollers usually have a long shaft so that you can adjust the brackets without the door falling off.

If the rollers are bumping hard its probably that the tracks are too tight, not a problem with the bolt heads. Also is the door level? That will also cause those problems. Your track margins should be 1/2 to 5/8". The knurled track bolts are pretty much industry standard. The old flat heads haven't been around for a long time but Raynor may still be using a 5/16" version. You would have to drill the hole out. One more thing, make sure the head is all the way down. I use a 17/64 bit. The knurl will pull all the way through but be careful. They wring off real easy.
